Design exists in relation to us. A balance between space, form and spirit. It’s about our relationship with the world. When we look at design in this way, questions of psychology, sociology, sustainability, function and aesthetics come into play.

How do these issues relate to India’s population of 1.2 billion and the wider world? We went to IIID Nat Con 2016 in Indore, India to join the discussion.

Creative Director James Balmond was one of the international prime speakers during the three day event hosted by The Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIIID). Over 2000 delegates from India and beyond came to learn, share and discuss the concept of ‘Taking design to the masses’. The Balmond Studio design ideology inspired many and it was fantastic to engage with our growing fan base in India.
